About this business
Our journey began in July 1983 when Hal and Jean Neiman moved their family to Alpena Michigan and opened Alpena IGA with their partners and 46 energetic, engaged, and determined staff. In 1997 Hal and Jean bought out their partners and we become Neiman’s Family Market. Between 2007 and 2013, we added 3 stores; in Tawas, St. Clair and Clarkston. In 2020 we made the business decision to close our store in Alpena, however, our famous Neiman’s bagels continue to be produced and shipped from Alpena to our other locations.

My granddaughter and I went in to Neiman's for some custard filled donuts but we got there too late to buy some. We didn't leave empty-handed we found some adorable Christmas items. For my two great grandsons I found some cute dinosaur Christmas ornaments that I know they will love. Some old fashioned hard candy that we enjoy. We enjoyed looking around in their store.
My favorite store. Everyone is pleasant and helpful. The selection is great, produce fresh. Wonderful fried chicken and nice cashiers, especially Danette. If you need something specific they will order it for you and they have a rewards system. Shop local you won't be disappointed
You WILL pay more than the big box stores if you shop at Neiman's but the pay off I get from shopping here is worth it. I receive home town atmosphere with their great customer service, a good deli/bakery with GREAT donuts, fresh produce, and the do have some items I can only get from this store.
Very friendly, good variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, and fresh quality meats at competitive prices. Everything you need to put a feast on the table for your family.
Absolutely love shopping here. Whenever I am in Tawas, it’s my first stop to stock up for drinks and meals! Produce, bakery and refrigerator items, are top quality, and an excellent selection too! Prices are very competitive!
